PTI August 2012 Blog Hop

It's hard to believe it's the 25th of the month again, but here we are.  Summer is coming to an end, Ian goes back to school in a little over a week, and I'm looking forward to my favorite time of year: FALL!!!  This month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop inspirations photos are right up my alley and seeing all of the rich fall textiles got me super excited to play along.

It just so happens that I have a birthday party to go to today for one of the physicians from work and his wife who are celebrating "milestone" birthdays together.  So I decided to use this challenge to create a special card for them - something both masculine and feminine.  And here's what I came up with:

I pulled out a pack of Claudine Hellmuth Studio Sticky Back Canvas in Natural and decided it would make be the perfect medium for this challenge.  I cut a piece 5.25" x 4" and stamped with Hero Arts' houndstooth background stamp in Dark Chocolate PTI ink.  I frayed the edges and then adhered this to a piece of 5.5" x 4.25" Dark Chocolate PTI cardstock.  I die cut the largest flower from The Sweet Life and two of the largest leaves from the canvas and stamped with Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening (flower); Simply Chartreuse, and Ripe Avocado (leaves) PTI Ink.  I cut an oval from the canvas as well using the Limitless Layers small ovals set and matted that on Enchanted Evening cardstock also cut with LL small ovals.  The sentiment from Pretty Peonies is stamped in Dark Chocolate.  I added some Dark Chocolate baker's twine and 1/4" silk ribbon and a Tim Holtz decorative pin.  You can't see it in the photo, but the pin says "Vintage" on it - appropriate for a pair of "vintage" individuals!

I love the look of the Sweet Life rose stamped on the canvas so I'm sure I'll be doing this again.  I hope you enjoyed stopping by!  To check out more of the PTI Blog Hop, check out Nichole Heady's blog.

Check out Make It Monday #79 at PTI also, Fabric Die Cuts.  This card fits that challenge, as well
